From the Hill, to the DOJ, to the Tech Industry

This week, we welcome Sarah Matz to the show. Sarah serves as Senior Director of State Government Affairs for CompTIA, and is based out of Austin, Texas.

CompTIA is a trade association that represents the U.S. tech industry, representing nearly 2,000 member companies, and offering I.T. certification programs.

Sarah serves as an advocate for CompTIA in the southern region of the U.S. with an impressive portfolio of 12 states, drawing on her years of experience working in government, from the Department of Justice to Congress.

  • Sarah was raised in Arizona, but now calls Texas home.
  • She attended West Texas A&M University for her B.A. in Criminal Justice, and Gonzaga University for an M.A. in Communication and Organizational Leadership.
  • Her first government/political job was interning in the U.S. House of Representatives during her senior year of college.
  • She worked in the U.S. House first as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Larry Combest, and then as a Senior Policy Advisor to Randy Neugebauer.
  • She then worked as a congressional/public affairs specialist for the U.S. Department of Justice.
  • She then returned to Texas, serving as a Legislative Liaison for the Texas Department of Transportation, before joining CompTIA
